My Favorite High-Yield Savings Accounts

The exact accounts I use to grow my savings, and they take just minutes to set up.

If your savings are sitting in a regular bank account, they're probably earning close to nothing. A high-yield savings account (HYSA) lets that same money earn significantly more interest, with no extra work from you.

These are the accounts I personally use and recommend. Both are super easy to open, and I've sorted them by whether or not they need a direct deposit to get the best rate.

The accounts I use

Requires direct deposit for the higher rate Direct deposit
Does NOT require direct deposit No direct deposit

A few tips before you open one

1

Give every dollar a job.Open separate savings buckets for things like taxes, your emergency fund, and big goals so you always know what's what.

2

Automate it.Set up a recurring transfer on payday so saving happens without you having to think about it.

3

Check the current rate.HYSA rates change over time, so take a quick look at the current rate and terms on each bank's site when you sign up.
